Volleyball: Boise State vs New Mexico
October 30, 2014
Boise State volleyball looks to continue their season high 4 match home winning streak. The Broncos are coming off a pair of road loses. Boise State and New Mexico takes place at Bronco Gym tonight. I have the call starting at 7pm MT on the Mountain West Network.
Three things to watch for:
1. Boise State Coach Shaun Garus told me that facing Chantale Riddle causes all kinds of problems. New Mexico's right side hitter is one of the conferences best blockers, has one of the hardest spikes in the Mountain West, and is also great at floor defense. The Broncos have to work around the Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year.
2. Riddle leads a New Mexico front line that has led to the team being one of the nation's top defensive units. The Lobos are holding their opponents to a .134 hit percentage, which is the 5th best in NCAA. The Broncos hit a season low .100 against New Mexico on the road this year.
3. It's a rare chance to see the Broncos at home. After this weekend, five of the final six conference matches are on the road. New Mexico Head Coach Jeff Nelson called Bronco Gym a "hot box" and said it's one of the best home courts in the conference. Boise State has won four straight home matches, taking 12 of the past 14 sets at Bronco Gym.
