We're back in the swing of athletic season at Boise State. It's shaping up to be an exciting season for a bunch of different sports for the Broncos. Thanks to technological advances for the BSU athletic department, the broadcasts on the Mountain West Network should look even sharper this year. I'll be posting previews of the week of broadcasts right here.
Last week, the preseason Mountain West poll for volleyball was released, and Boise State was picked to finish. If that prediction comes true, it would be the best season in school history. I was chatting with head coach Shawn Garus, and he seemed extremely excited about this group. One thing he told me, keep an eye on the Mountain West in the non-conference. The league typically gets only one bid in the tournament, but coach thinks it could have multiple bids this year.
The big season story for soccer is the final season for Brooke Heidemann. Boise State's midfielder has a chance to go down as the best player to ever put on a Bronco jersey. She's the only player in team history to be named to the all-conference first team three times. Brooke can become just the third player ever to be chosen to the Mountain West's First Team four times. Bronco Soccer is already underway, including Sunday's first broadcast of the Boise State athletic season. Washington State edged Boise State 2-1.
The "Bob and Chris Show" continues to roll along every weekday from 1-3 on 93.1 KTIK-FM. This week, the show will heat up, previewing the first Boise State football game of the season. We know Ryan Finley is the guy at QB for the Broncos. Coach Chris Petersen is keeping his QB a mystery for the opener. On the show this week, I'll expain why I think that move could be a mistake. We'll also give our take on how the Boise State fanbase should greet Coach Pete. And then, I'll recap the game with the first edition of "Bronco Gamenight" on KBOI.
