Conference play is here for the fall sports. We've already seen some entertaining, high profile football conference games. Soccer and volleyball largely start league play this weekend. Boise State volleyball opens with perhaps the toughest road trip. Playing at Wyoming is difficult, no matter what the sport. They then travel to Colorado State, the best team in the Mountain West.
Meanwhile, I'll be broadcasting Boise State soccer at home this weekend. Conference play begins with three-time defending Mountain West champion San Diego State. Last year, the Broncos upset the Aztecs, handing them just their 2nd home conference loss the past six years. Boise State Coach Jim Thomas said he expects an angry San Diego State team to be at the Boas Soccer Complex Friday. On Sunday, the team the knocked the Broncos from the Mountain West tournament last year comes to town. Boise State will look for revenge against New Mexico.
Boise State football is in a unique position Friday, which made the "Bob and Chris Show" a treat this week. The Broncos travel 2,000 miles to take on Virginia, a team that nobody can seem to figure out. Add that to the quarterback question facing Boise State with Ryan Finley going down against Idaho State, and now predictions are all over the place. The only thing that's for certain is that the postgame show with Rick Worthington and David Allen will be a blast on Bronco Gamenight.
